I was never a fan, I have to admit, and I’m not sure why. I like the Basmoli. I even like Ducks. To me, Puma People are the Gloranthan Jar Jar Binks. So can anyone say where they have gone? Have they been deliberately left out of HQ2?

Yes. There are no references to Puma People in the Guide. If you want to have Puma People in your Glorantha – that’s fine. Glorantha is big enough to encompass another tiny minor race of Hsunchen or whatever they were. But I doubt they will appear in any other future book.
