What HeroQuest Gateway supplements would you like to see? Submitted by Newtus on Tue, 11/12/2012 – 06:48
D101 has done some Fantasy supplements
Ye Little Book of HeroQuest Fantasy, which is a short very straight forward supplement on how to D&D with HQ + a fantasy bestiary.
+
Empires Rising a complete setting with four scenarios.
I think we are pretty much done there ( but I might be wrong if so correct me) what other settings would folk like to see?

A hard science fiction supplement.
River of Heaven ?
Submitted by Newtus on Tue, 18/12/2012 – 08:03.
Many moons ago (pardon the pun) I said we’d be doing a HeroQuest version of River of Heaven (an OpenQuest powered Hard Sci-fi game written by John “Cthulhu Rising” Ossoway). Its a pre-singularity setting, were the player characters are pre-transhuman (in that they may use bio-augmentations extensively but they are recogniseably human). John took great care to make a gameable setting. One of things he hardwired into the setting was the idea that it has a timeline with different ages of the setting. River of Heaven itself is set in the ‘Bright Age’, and the HeroQuest version would be set sixty years on from then after catastropic wars have ravaged known space and humanity is starting to rebuild. So the characters and tech would be 99% the same, so you could take the HQ rules and run a standard Bright Age campaign (and we will be producing adventures for this).

I went off the boil with the HQ version since the main OQ game , which the HQ version is based off, took an age to put together, but I’ve certainly started working on Keywords etc for the setting. So if nothing else I can put that together as a free download to compliment the OQ Game.

Is RoH already available?
Submitted by pansophy on Tue, 18/12/2012 – 19:31.
Newt, that is a great idea. I was looking into RoH and find the setting very interesting (at least what I can read on your website). But I cannot find it anywhere to buy? If you could give me a hint that would be great …
Converting a setting to HQ is not that much of a problem for me, but the small things that make a setting “special” are a bit more difficult. If you could wite something up (Keywords for characters and the human “modifications), that would be great 🙂

Not yet…

Its not been released yet, here’s the update I’ve just posted on the games’ webpage.
Current status as of Dec 2012. The game text is written and ready for layout. We plan to run a Kickstarter in early Jan/Feb 2013 (after OpenQuest 2 has gone to pre-order backers), to raise funds for art.
Read the full Introductory chapter (note: layout and art will change in final release)
I’ll go public with the HQ version when I’ve firmed up more details about it, but if things go smoothly and I’m heading towards a seperate full release the plan is to include it in the Kickstarter, so you can either support the OQ version or the HQ version or both 😉

I’m in.

Yes, a hard Sci-Fi would be much appreciated. Something like Ashen Stars, but less (sentient) aliens. I would love to see a mix of 2300AD, Terran Trade Authority and Gammaworld.

How about what’s on the tin/cover?
Submitted by Dreamstreamer on Tue, 11/12/2012 – 13:19.
Namely, we see:
Super Powers – Spandex donning super heroes and villains!
Martial Arts – Kick-butt, kung fu action!
Mechanical horde – Robot apocalypse!
16th-17th Century naval expeditions – Buccaneers and privateers on the Spanish Main!
Modern warfare – Squad- or platoon-level military maneuvers!
Pulp cultists – Evil lurking down every dark alleyway!
And that doesn’t even touch on the ancient ruins/lost civilization and zeppelin in the background (also pulp favorites)…
A billion years is too short a time to accomplish everything you can imagine, for imagination is infinite.
