Keyword and break-out abilities maximum rating Submitted by Kensei on Sun, 23/09/2012 – 11:43
If you’re using the List Method for creating a character, and you assign him a keyword (ex. Warrior) at 7W (17+ 10 points), can you give him a break-out ability from that keyword? (Warrior 7W Axe fighting +2) Or you can’t as you’ve already reached the maximum rating in the keyword?
Reading the example characters in Sartar, one of them has one KW at 7W and several breakout abilities at +1. Is this OK or is it an errata?

It’s perfectly OK to stack

Indeed, at character creation, no more than 10 points can be added to a single ablity – break out or not. So if I have “tribal warrior” at 5M, it’s perfectly OK to have “Shield bashing-Mace manoeuver” at +10. Enjoy!
I agree

You could add 10 to a keyword at 17 and get 7W, then break out another 10. This would produce a very boring single minded character. I do allow (and encourage) my players to bump a keyword by 10 as it gives direction, I would advise strongly against any other breakout from it to spend the remaining 10 points rounding the character out.
