CHA4018 Questworld (1982)

WHAT’S IN THIS BOX?

An Explanation of the Parts

QUESTWORLD is a collection of scenarios for RuneQuest set in Questworld, an alternate RuneQuest universe. This box contains an introductory booklet about the world, three scenario booklets, a map of one Questworld continent, Kano, and a smaller scale map of an area known as Greenwald on the northeast coast of Kano (locating the city of Smithe will orient you). Each item has a purpose. All the scenarios can occur independently, or can be linked together geographically.

AN INTRODUCTION TO QUESTWORLD presents the geography, climate, and cosmological possibilities for Questworld, gives the world a consistent rationale, presents information on the creation of new adventures, for Questworld, and sketches the requirements for submitting new Questword material of your own design to Chaosium.

CANDLEFIRE is a town toward the mountains, and it sits on a strategic boundary between two nations. In its four scenarios, player-characters can perform missions, wrest wanted characters from the casinos which shield them, investigate the agricultural practices of a local smith, and worship at the shrines of four new gods: Nik-el, goddess of luck; Panash, god of savoire faire; Vrang / homans, illiterate god of blacksmiths, and the mysterious Zoob. New Rune spells accompany these gods.

LORD SKYPPEN’S MANSION is a single long scenario which resolves into several evenings of play. In it, a player-character is told that he is the long-lost heir to the estate of Lord Skyppen. All the characters need do is to fight through woods of chaos-spawn and lurking elves in order to get to the mansion and find the deed which will make him sole owner. An adventure suited to a reckless heir and powerful friends.

GREENWALD TALES is a collection of short adventures in which the characters hunt down intelligent apes, get a chance to buy a real treasure map, and be hoodwinked by trollkin thieves and the owners of an armored wagon. Finally, the solitaire adventure “Cats and Drasons” will take the solo character into sudden peril and the potential for rich reward;

The map of KANOS gives the general lay of the land to referee and players; the GREENWALD map
details the northeastern portion of Kano described in the scenarios. Both are left with large blank
areas to allow the widest freedom of imagination possible to the referee.
