I can’t wait until we release the Mythology book (October), so that you all have a lot of the big picture stuff in your hands. The cult distribution charts are incredibly helpful for world building, and soon enough you’ll have them.
But until then you’ll just have to rely on my little factoid posts. For example, In Esrolia around 45% of the adult population are initiates of deities in the Earth goddesses book and about 31% are initiates of deities in the Lightbringers book. Contrast that with Sartar, where about 36% are initiates of deities in the Earth goddesses book but 49% are initiates of deities in the Lightbringers book.
That gives Esrolia its strongly Earth religion feel (but also keeps it in the Theyalan camp), while Sartar is very strongly Lightbringer-centric.
We can look elsewhere for such complexities as well. Lunar Tarsh has some 29% in the Earth goddesses book, 26% in the Lightbringers (so slightly leaning Earth-y), but 35% follow the Lunar Way. Compare that with the Silver Shadow, where only 6% follow deities from the Earth book, a mere 2% follow Lightbringers, but 48% follow the Lunar Way. That’s as lopsidedly Lunar as Sartar is Lightbringer!
Are these percentages exclusive, or do they overlap? I largely ignore dual-initiate status. I know it is something people like to have in games (or at least talk about), but I suspect it is a rounding error.
