The thirteen main cults in Sartar

Posted on September 29, 2023

There are thirteen main cults in Sartar, which collectively are about 95% of the population. The biggest are:

  • Orlanth
  • Ernalda

Those two cults are about 68% of the population.

  • Yelmalio
  • Seven Mothers
  • Issaries
  • Humakt
  • Chalana Arroy
  • Lhankor Mhy
  • Daka Fal
  • Storm Bull
  • Maran Gor
  • Babeester Gor
  • Eurmal

Those 11 cults (each with between 1% and 5% of the population) collectively make up about 27% of the population.

Every other cult is followed by less than 1% of the population and all of those others total up to about 5% overall.

The Mythology Book has this sort of information for more than 25 homelands and cultures. I find it incredibly useful for getting a feel for places.

What about hunters? Full time hunters are maybe 5% of the population. Of that number most are Orlanth initiates, and a minority follow Odayla or Yinkin.

Invisible God worshippers in Sartar? Way less than 1%

Does the number count Vinga worshippers within the Orlanth’s total and Nandan worshippers within Ernalda, or are they in that final 5% of Others, each accounting for < 1%? Those are all subcults: Vinga is an Orlanth subcult. I don’t break out Thunderous, Adventurous, or Rex either. Likewise Nandan.
