With the Lunar Book getting close, it is perhaps worth thinking about what is going on in the Lunar Empire at this time. 1625 is marked by three big ongoing events:
White Moon Rebellion: Although strictly speak the White Moon movement is within the Red Goddess and Seven Mothers cults, this movement has broad support from the Lodrilli of the Pelorian Heartlands. Jar-eel the Razoress has served as rallying point against the White Moon preachings, directly confronting Red Goddess initiates and bringing them back into obedience with the Red Emperor. She does this with harmony or with death – she is as skilled with harmonious music as with the deadly sword, but is happy to use either.
The Red Emperor sent troops to main gathering of White Moon leaders and slew them. Many Lodrilli rose up in protest, and there is a peasants rebellion in much of the Heartlands.
The Revolt of the Redlands: The Voor-ash confederacy, led by Dranz Goloi, invaded the Oraya satrapy in 1624 and overwhelmed the garrisons. Pentan war bands now raid deep into the Lunar Heartlands and even into the Lunar Provinces. The Red Emperor is mustering every soldier to fight this. It is feared that this is simply the opening act for Sheng Seleris’ return.
Combined with the White Moon rebellion, this is a crisis that rocks the Lunar Empire and poses an existential threat.
Rebellion in Dragon Pass: A True Dragon awakened in Dragon Pass and devoured the new Temple of the Reaching Moon, killing much of the Provincial Army. Prax, Sartar, and the Holy Country are lost to the Lunar Empire. Responsibility for Dragon Pass has been hastily granted to Furthest. No additional resources can be granted until the White Moon Rebellion/Revolt in the Redlands has been crushed.
