The Conquest Of Teshnos And Kralori

Posted on September 6, 2022

This is a Second Age Jrusteli document, among the earliest records recovered in the Third Age. It chronicles the conquest of Teshnos and Kralorela. Like many texts of this time, secret knowledge and magical powers are described as physical objects, in this case the Amulet of Hykim.

——–

Fralar (a Seshnegi term for the Hsa nation) had again begun building itself up to great heights when the Brithini came. These were from the nation of Seshneg, and they came with intentions of enslaving the country. First they conquered the island of Melib, the inhabitants of tha tplace, the Artmali or Blue People, fleeing by ship to the mainland. They settled finally on the island of Sha-Tran, but that was not for years.

Using Melib as a base, the Seshnegi sent emissaries to the Fralari first. There they learned of the country and its inhabitants. Then they went to the Kralori, now a very great and beautiful country. Using lies and plots they incited the Fralari and Kralori against each other, discreetly remaining aloof. They also used Hykimi mercenaries against Kralor to assist the Fralari. But the Kingdom of Kralor was a powerful nation. They continually defeated the Fralari, although they were unable to penetrate the mountains and invade their country. Their navy was equally halted by Melibi ships acting as Fralari mercenaries. But still they remained the victors.

At this point the Seshnegi invaded Teshnon. With their swift cavalry and powerful magicians, they swept inland. The decimated Fralari were at their wits end to do something against those who had tricked them. At that time the slaves of Fethlon revolted, making one of their own ruler and renaming the land Jro-Alea. These people the Seshnegi ignored for a time, although they later extracted tribute from them. The Nerali, however, came to the aid of the Fralari despite all the past wrongs done to them. The Damali also came and the Seshnegi were finally halted. But this was as much part of their own plans. They had begun a campaign against the Kingdom of Kralor itself.

But the Kralori were no easy enemies. They were still strong from their war against the Fralari and they possessed powerful magic. The Seshnegi enisted the Hykimi against them, also getting the Amazons of the Tamae to help. The Vrimaki then came to the assistance of their distant kin, as did the Damali. It seemed that the Seshnegi were going to be solidly defeated.

But luck was with the Seshngei. A magician of the Seshngei discovered the ancient amulet of Hykim. With it he gained power over the dragons of that area and used them against the flying Vrimaki and land armies of Kralor with devastating effectiveness. The cities and armies were destroyed, although the Seshnegi too suffered heavily.

Finally the Kralori came to terms with the Seshnegi who set up a new royal house over the decimated lands. But they were too damaged to occupy the defeated lands as they had done in Teshnon. Soon afterward the amulet of Hykim was lost to the Seshnegi when the magicians of the Hykimi undertook a vicious and successful underground campaign to recover the amulet. Where it went is unknown.

The situation remained static for hundreds of years. The Seshnegi began a rebuilding of the occupied lands, shipping much wealth back to their mother country. The lands of the Hsunchen which were destroyed were not able to build anew, having undergone tremendous losses during the wars. Such were the Eastern lands at the Closing of the Oceans.
