Every now and then, although not very often, I get an unexpected email from a volunteer. Over the years we have had a number of people (mainly Gloranthaphiles) offer to help us in some way or another. All of them are well-meaning, no doubt. Unfortunately, most of the offers do not pan out. Each volunteer expresses their heartfelt passion for the game and their desire to help us get out more books faster, but turning that into productive action is the tricky part. Our latest volunteer has surpassed all of those expectations.
A few months back I recieved an email with a list of suggested corrections for the first 20 pages or so of the Sartar book. Charles Alston offered his services to edit the rest of the book as well. Very much wanting to increase the quality of our books we leapt at the offer. Thus far, he has already completely gone through the Sartar and Sartar Companion books, and is currently editing the revised and expanded King of Sartar before he proceeds on to the Guide to Glorantha. Working with Charles has been a delight and we very much appreciate all he has done for us. We just have to make sure we don’t confuse him with our other Charles (Corrigan), our uber-helpful, passionate, and professional websmaster. 🙂
I wish we had several more new volunteers like them, especially with their dedication, professionalism, and passion.
