So by now I am sure people are mapping out connections between the cults in the Lightbringers and Earth Goddesses books.
To me the most interesting is the interplay between Orlanth and Ernalda. Even though both cults are separate, they are closely associated, and Orlanth has lots of obligations to Ernalda and her cult.
From these two cults, you can see the framework of Orlanthi society, that of course is going to get a lot more attention in the Sartar Book. But these two books form that framework. You can see the cults associated with Orlanth, and with Ernalda, and the associates of the associates, plus the odd Friendly Humakt cult.
Some social needs get taken care of outside this framework, in particular Ancestor Worship. But it is present there as well.
Now future Cults Books are going to add to this, and let us see other frameworks as well. I view these books as allowing us to have a modular approach to cults and homelands.
But you can also see from this that Ernalda is perfectly capable of choosing another husband-protector if necessary or convenient.
Is the Red Emperor one of her husband-protector? No. Ernalda is no better than Neutral towards the Red Emperor.
