One of the interesting customs common among the Orlanthi are the “temple children”. These are children born to Earth Priestesses (often without an identified mortal father) who are cared and raised by the temple.
Such children often receive high status education – daughters are often trained to become priestesses, and sons are given a martial education by the representatives of the local husband-protector.
Among the Colymar, there are no doubt many members of the Ernaldoring Clan that were raised this way at the Clearwine Earth Temple (including Yanioth and Vasana).
Children born of ritual encounters belong to the mother and her clan, unless the father is acknowledged for one reason or another.
Note that male children of Maran Gor god talkers are also temple children.
