When we think about the ordinary soldiers of Sartar, Tarsh, and the Lunar Heartlands a few notes:
Provincial Army units are fundamentally the same as Sartarite tribal militia.
The best Lunar Heartland infantry are the Granite, Jasper, and Marble Phalanxes, and the Household Foot. The Sartarites have no infantry that are their equivalents.
The best Sartarite cavalry are Argrath’s companions – the Twin Spears, Bullocks, and Sword Brothers. The Lunars have no cavalry that are their equivalents.
Argrath’s Sartarite army is cavalry heavy – a combination of Praxians, companions, and tribal and city thanes.
The very best of the Lunar cavalry are Jar-eel’s Bloodspillers, which are the equivalent of any one of Argrath’s companion units. But after that it is the Hellsisters, Hadrian’s Dragoons, Standfast, Red Dragoons, Char-un, Antelope Lancers, and the Bell Temple. They are the peers of Argrath’s Praxian cavalry and some of his Magical Union cavalry, but in general Argrath has the edge.
With Grazer aid, this goes from an edge to a decisive advantage – unless of course, the Empire can get the aid of Sir Ethilrist. That Black Horse Troop can be a game changer. But they can be countered by the Dragonewts…
