One thing I encourage EVERYONE running a RQ game do is to grab the Lightbringers Book and read the Nature of the Cult sections for Orlanth and then read the Organization section. Just do it.
These four pages give more information about the Orlanthi worldview than we probably ever published. The funny thing is much of that was really old, and comes out of Greg’s Orange Book, which was his first attempt to create the Sartar Book (elements of it got reused in King of Sartar). Editing that material for the Orlanth cult was one of the last things that Greg and I finished before he passed away in 2018.
I reread those two sections regularly – they are the foundation for understanding the Orlanth cult and the Orlanthi peoples. It is really one of my favorite bits of writing in the Lightbringers Book.
In fact, I encourage you to do it right now, and then post something that you didn’t realise about the cult before you read it. There’s some fascinating tidbits there that fly against what I often see being said by would-be “lore masters”.
And that’s part of the joy of the Cults book. Every cult, no matter how seemingly “familiar”, has material in there that might come as a surprise.
