Notes on Maniria I

Posted on January 14, 2023

Maniria is a belt about 160-200km wide between the Mislari Mountains and the Solkathi Sea. It has a humid temperate to subtropical climate. Think Virginia or North Carolina. The Arstola forest hugs the Mislari Mountains and is about 80 km wide – a huge elf forest.

Ignoring Ramalia there about 675,000 humans in Maniria between the Holy Country and Ralios. The biggest group is that of the Ditali, a tribal confederation of some 220,000 people.

The biggest cults among the Ditali are Orlanth and Ernalda, with about half the population between them. Another 10% follow the local Grain Goddess. The other Seven Lightbringers are about 7% of the population, followed by by Daka Fal, Caladra & Aurelion, and Heler. In short, the Ditali are Orlanthi – however, their cults are Orlanth Adventurous and Orlanth Thunderous, as they do no have the Rex subcult. A very small minority (about 3%) worship the Invisible God.

Maniria has a large Orlanthi culture that is not particularly threatened by the Lunar Empire or the threat of Chaos. The Trader Princes ran trade caravans between the Holy Country and Ralios, the wealth from that trade bought the loyalty of the Orlanthi population. Since the Opening, that wealth has diminished (although not disappeared).
