RQG doesn’t really have Treasure Ratings, for most sentient creatures, social status goes hand in hand with gear which goes hand in hand with skill and power. Here’s five tiers:
- “Guy in loincloth”: also called Poor [whatever] this is average trollkin, poorly equipped humans, and other ill-prepared foes. Their gear is typically worth nothing.
- “Militia”: Also called Average [whatever] , this is someone armed with linothorax armor, a self bow, spear, axe, and shield. Maybe around 200L worth of gear, which might be sold for 80-100L.
- “Mercenary”: Also called Good [whatever], this is someone armed with heavy scale armor, a composite bow, sword, and shield. Maybe 400L worth of gear, which might be sold for 160-200L.
- “Leader”: Also called Excellent [whatever], this is a veteran commander just short of being a Rune Master. They might have full plate, a sword, composite bow, shield, jewelry, and a magic item or two. Maybe 1000-1500L worth of gear, which might be resold for 400-750L.
- “Rune Master”: A Rune Lord or Priest. They might have iron weapons and armor, several magic items, jewelry and other bling. It is not unreasonable to assume their gear will be worth 10,000+ L. Defeat a Rune Lord or priest, and your adventurers have got it made. Of course, the consequences of plundering and ransoming them can be even more dangerous than fighting them!
What about coin? Most people don’t carry around more than a handful of silver coins. It is far more likely that people carry jewelry – broaches, rings, arm rings, neck rings or necklaces, earrings, anklets, and so on. That can be tied to their tier – an Excellent Orlanthi Warrior should have a lot more loot on them than an Average Orlanthi Warrior.
Ransom
Remember that sentient non-Chaos foes can be taken alive and ransomed back to their cult. This somewhat tracks the tiers of plundered gear:
- Lay member only (guy in loincloth): 200L
- Initiate (Militia, Mercenary, Leader): 500L
- Rune Master (Leader and Rune Master): 1000L
