One of the “real world” sources I read as part of putting the Dragon Pass guide together was Pausanias’ “Description of Greece” with its numerous shrines and other religious sites. Now I had to keep the page count down, so I tried to avoid Pausanias’s meandering detours and stories, but I can see the influence when I look at “Dragon Pass”.
There’s a lot in Dragon Pass, and if you delve into the details, you can put together a pretty good picture of the locally important cults and their distribution. One of the maps I toyed around with was a series that showed where the Great Temples, Major Temples, Minor Temples, and Shrines for each cult were – but it ended up being too many pages and not good enough looking!
