Manside, Big Rubble

Posted on May 31, 2024

Let’s think about Manside in the Big Rubble for a few minutes. About 1,500 humans live in the Big Rubble. Of that number, about 500 live in the Real City, about 350 live in Zebra Fort and the surrounding ruins, about 300 live in Mani’s fort, and about 350 live in rest of the Main Ruins and elsewhere in the Rubble. All of these are often collectively referred to as Pavis Survivors.

Those last 350 are mainly bandit and scavenger gangs, who crawl through the Rubble preying on whoever they can. It must be a pretty desperate existence, and I’m sure many are more than willing to prey on wounded adventurers who have barely made their way out of some underground temple or complex. Smuggling, highway robbery, extortion – that’s likely their main trades.

Few bandits are willing to take on mounted warriors, heavily armored groups, dark trolls, or elf bands. I’m sure they usually flee from broo or other monsters.

The current leader of the bandits is Siralda’s Gang, who control the Old Mint. This stronghold in the middle of the Main Ruins is easily defended and her gang does much trade with the Real City and Zebra Fort, and are thought to do trade with several Lanbril Rings including the Hole Lords. She’s considered pretty reasonable and pragmatic – for a bandit chieftain!

Manside

I know of around a dozen gangs operating in the Rubble after the Liberation, maybe more. Some of the better known names include: the Old Mint Gang, the Bandit King, the Judge’s Gang, the Real City Exiles, the Clayfist Gang, the Bull Lord, and the Oathbound.

In addition, there are thought to be around 200-300 members of the Black Fang Brotherhood in the Big Rubble, although these are likely scattered throughout the Big Rubble, and also likely New Pavis.
