okay welcome back to another episode of the Chaosium house Runequest

campaign tales of the White Bull i’m Jeff Richard and i am your GM tonight we are

going to just dive right in because we got a full house tonight uh and uh as of the last session

uh the players were all leaving Clearwine to head up to uh towards the little village of

Swan to uh deal with a uh spirit problem of the

the Hiording clan um if you recall that the Hiording clan which is the clan

of Nisk and Garan have lost their their um contact

with their guardian spirit uh the the um the swan woman
1:22
of the herding who is the ancestor of your clan so the the winged woman
1:29
that you all uh uh that the clan members revere
1:34
as their ancestors their founder and magical protector uh
1:42
and uh just to give a little more information for Nisk and Garan of course you know she also

is there as a sacred goose in the uh the you know that’s there in the clan

sacred lands kind of like the uh if anybody is familiar with the story in in the early republic of rome there

were the geese that lived atop the capitoline hill and that were sacred to the

the temple of um a sacred to the the temple of what was it jupiter

yeah but they were sacred to the temple well your clan has their own sacred goose right

and the sacred goose is gone they can’t speak with the spirit anymore

and of course that is a big problem for your clan so you all are headed up it’s not very far

from Clearwine to to swan it’s about a day’s travel through the

hills uh and before you all left Enkala showed up uh after spending you know

maybe she’s she’s probably gotten rid of whatever spider webs that she has with her from hanging out in the the

cave of the spider goddess they’re in bolt home in the troll town

and this is a a chance of course for you all to to catch up with each other etc

so um but with that i unfortunately am realizing that i need an incredibly

you know you’ve been you’ve not seen your friends in several weeks you’ve been going through uh

spidery initiations and dealing with trolls and and all sorts of weirdness

like that and that’s even something worth to to to think about and

metagame yeah weren’t at the last session so this is a chance for you to tell the

players what all everybody else what you’ve been up to and we didn’t run this out because you

know we probably we just never got around to it and i think it’s important that you know that let the players in this

case you should just tell you know what you have been up to uh and

the more likely it is to have something that affects the rest of the players

the better because this is the chance for you to contribute something to what’s going

on uh based on your interaction with the trolls uh with the spider cult or whatever’s

been going on in bald home for the last session and and in fact why did you

even decide that you needed to leave Boldhome to come to clearwine

so linda needs to think a little bit but i’ll tell them a little bit bits of

i did sacrifice some of my soul but she didn’t give me enough limbs we

spirit plane has become a little bit more interesting um she taught me how to spin

a web which is something i haven’t really tried here yet but it works on the spirit playing and

uh yeah it’s all about time isn’t it um so i have been

learning about eating which is also something that i really haven’t thought much about

being the consumer the eater that is something that um fits well

i’ve learned how to climb but not really

she didn’t really she failed me a bit and then i’m gonna

leave some of the bigger stories here for a little bit later but i’ve been having fun and darkness

may i did already have the darkness rune actually on me even though my darkness isn’t that great

but it’s kind of become darker all my rooms have become all my tattoos have become kind of

darker than normal darker black in kind of way almost as they as if they cast a shadow around

them so she’s got all these spider web tattoos and big spider and spiders tattooed onto

her she’s looking like you know someone coming out about you know out of a u.s prison system

i have a certain fetish for spiders yes

i did all the time my wonderful fetch is a spider it will always be a spider and

the one with the additional limbs is quite interesting i mean you know it’s always good to know how to get additional limbs

with the spider tattoo of the spider with two horns that’s kind of weird yeah well it’s you

know i had to try and uh the part with growing more limbs

it’s not something that i’ve really in my dreams it’s worked to grow more limbs but i haven’t really

been able to do it in real life and also so the whole carapace thing has

also been a bit of a problem because you know the skin stuff is

a bit off i i should be harder on the outside and mushier on the inside if you know what i mean

so it’s a i feel a bit wrong a little bit wrong but it’s okay

but this is not a solution for you because keep in mind i mean it’s about additional limbs it’s not about

apparently not worthy enough at this point to really become the spider yeah many

secrets to her yes but but i know the existence of it and i’ve been on the spirit plane and i

have fought some spirits i’ve learned some lessons but i should also bounce the spirit for

the first time Jeff because i haven’t really done that before um my fetch combined spirits and i rebound

probably about 25 kilometers or so so it’s something you can do in a hard day’s travel

i’d say 20 it’s a hard day’s travel because you know this is not on the roads of

sartar this is a little trade road and it goes through some rough terrain through the

woods etc so you all head there and

the farms not far away well that’s probably where your goose went

i don’t know let’s head that way anyway just because that could be there there’s still kalimar and there there could be people that need help so

once we get our once we get um karen’s horse back and everybody getting right up again and do

that yeah i’m i’m i think my pride is more badly wounded than uh

the uh further in the valley brings you all to a small collection of farm houses

and other buildings uh fields and vineyards surround the buildings

and um this is a farm actually that Garan

you know you actually know the farm that you’re running up to it is uh uh genstall

and gen genstall’s farm and jenstall is actually married now you are you are

of the horning clan um and you maintain your clan

connections um even though as a member of the cult of whom act

they’re not really responsible you know there’s a certain religious distance that’s maintained

because of the deeds that you do um your clan is not held responsible for

on the other hand uh you are not expected to be obligated to aid your clan uh in matters

of vengeance and whatnot without uh but nonetheless are you do you

maintain fond contact with your sister and and uh other members of your clan

um yes by and large because uh despite my um

my father’s inflexibility and frankly lack of glory my grandma

is uh my grandmother is a is still something of a hero so i to in respect

of her memory uh and to to ensure her legacy is maintained i do yeah

so you’ve you’ve been to this farm as a kid this is where the dragon was and it

stone walls that surround the corral and but scattered within are the corpses

of six partially eaten cattle and the mangled corpses of two humans

and he’s he’s dead in there along with um there is a mangled ox

and in their pens are two more dead cows but they don’t look like they were mangled or even touched

so they burned to death smoking they don’t look like they were even

the court that’s the courtyard remember how they most of these houses are are are built they’re built around

same there’s an inner court hearth for the family and outer hearth for guests and tenants

there’s um uh there’s a shrine and then there’s the sleeping areas so

yep my horse right i’ve tried i’ve put so much i’m like two or three times trained and i’ve seen it or to be good

on a horse and to fight on a horse i’m sure it takes more than more than the time you’ve spent it will take years you weren’t born on the

writing their entire lives the balance and everything is is there so of course you can’t compare
