Glorantha Discussions
I’m a relative newbie to the world of Glorantha – I’ve been interested in it for a long time, but the lack of one good corebook resource for the game (I’m hoping Guide to Glorantha is this fabled product) has restricted my knowledge. How good of a primer was KoDP for the tabletop game? I do have to admit that the almost complete focus on the Orlanthi didn’t prepare me for the much greater focus on the Lunar Empire in the tabletop materials.

KoDP is a great primer for the tabletop game if you want to play the Orlanthi or their neighbours (and other enemies). It is set about 150 years before the period of the current books from Moon Design.
Glorantha is huge in scope. The Orlanthi make up about twenty percent of the population of Genertela, the northern continent of Glorantha. Sartar (the setting of both KoDP and Sartar: Kingdom of Heroes) contains only between one and two percent of all Orlanthi peoples. The Lunar Empire Heartlands are also about twenty percent of the population of Genertela.
A substantial fraction of the current publication pipeline focuses on the Orlanthi. There is further information on the Guide to Glorantha in Jeff’s blog.
Thanks!

Thank you for your quick and detailed answer! I have a couple more questions. Where are the Lunars during the time period that KoDP covers? Also the “Horse-Spawn” that raid occasionally are the Grazers, right?

The Lunar Empire is north of Tarsh (the other Orlanthi Kingdom in the Northwest) and in the throes of being beaten up by Sheng Seleris.
The horse-spawn are Grazers.
