Diet in the Lunar Heartlands

Posted on April 5, 2024

When we think of the staple diet in the Lunar Heartlands (especially Silver Shadow, Darjiin, Kostaddi, and Sylila) think of rice. Not the domesticated white rice Oryza sativa) but North American wild rice Zizania palustris). This and maize are probably THE main staple foods for workers, with maize or barley mixed in. If you are fancy, it might have river fish or fowl mixed in. You also might eat this with a maize flat bread like a tortilla.

Now of course you probably drink maize beer or rice wine with this. The Oslira is a sewer after all!

The Oslira is polluted? Lets assume some 2 million humans live along the banks of the Oslira river in the Heartlands. Although I am sure it is rich with life, I expect it is also rich with runoff, sewage, and you name it.
