Coming out next month is the Mythology book. This was my favorite of the whole series and probably the most personal for Greg and I. The subject of the book is its title – this is the book explaining Glorantha Mythology. Not just stories like the Monomyth, but more basic questions like, what is mythology and how should we as readers try understand it?
Originally, this book was intended to be the Introduction and Overview for the whole cults series, and that is still how I think of it. Beyond it containing the most details and complete version of the Monomyth in print and art (supplemented by more than a dozen narrative myths) and the complete divine genealogies, it also contains the complete and expanded Mythic Maps (the short versions are in the Guide to Glorantha), numerous essays, and the cult distribution charts. Plus the super expanded Universal Cult Format and a lot of lovely art.
It is the book I reference the most when I work on Gloranthan materials – more than the Guide, the Sourcebook, etc. It supplements each of the Cults books and grounds them into the overall structure of the setting. I consider it indispensable and hope you all find it useful as well.
One note on the art – this has some of the BEST art in the whole series in my opinion. But thanks to a screwup on my part, one of the artists – our own Lionel Marty – got left out on the credits of the printed version. So expect to see his name whenever I post about the book!
