Now the Guide preview PDFs demonstrate Glorantha displayed and illustrated, probably to a degree that few other fantasy worlds have ever been (Middle Earth and Westeros come to mind), what would people like to see?

Having read through the Guide a few times, there are things (places, people… things) I really wish I’d had the opportunity to sponsor for an illustration when the Kickstarter was active, some I was utterly unaware of before reading the Guide.

I believe that the Gods book will have a slightly different approach: preferring to depict gods as their worshipers (or foes?) would show them, so it seems unlikely there’s going to be an opportunity for any other sorts of art requests.

Personally, I’d like to see a few of the events mentioned as forthcoming in the Hero Wars, scenes from the Kingdom of Ignorance, Hsa Hsunchen, Glamour… Too many things… 😎

More Fonritan goodness or is it …madness

Okay here’s something I doubt most other people would be interested in, but…

I would love to see more art of Gloranthan architecture. I have found that it’s easy to find paintings and drawings of various ancient people and costumes, but finding such of ancient buildings is hard, to say the least. And I would genuinely love to see more art that features notable Gloranthan architecture.

I can even imagine it, it can be an art book of colored plates with painted scenery from various cities around the world – Boldhome and a Sartarite village, New Pavis and an animal nomad camp, Fonritan city and a Doroddi camp, some cities in Ralios and Seshnela and such.

Hmm, street scenes (in color) of life in Pavis, Nochet, Kareeshtu…

Something like the scenes sketched by Roy Krenkel. I’m reminded of his drawings in Cities and Scenes of the Ancient World.

Yes, that’s exactly what I had in mind. It would help give an idea to players about where exactly their adventures are taking place.

    This would be great.

It would be interesting to see a book that included ten or so street scenes, plus supporting maps and detail, plus descriptions of the NPCs in the illustrations, but I fear there might not be a market for it?

Sounds like great art ideas for Gods of Glorantha! – after all the temples are central to many cities/villages, will have some of the representative architecture (or be surrounded by such) and include a nice range of NPC’s from priests down to lay people.

Here’s a Krenkel sketch – erroneously labelled as Carthage, but it looks like somewhere in Fonrit to me. 😎

That is clearly Fonrit! I would love to do more architectural drawings in some future works. Maybe I will need a Kickstarter add-on call “Draw Me A Temple”?

Here’s another – clearly Teshnos (Roy Krenkel could make entirely historical places look otherworldly; he illustrated a book on ancient cities by L. Sprague deCamp which is well worth seeing). A temple add-on to any future kickstarter would be really interesting.

    Somewhere in the Holy Country?

I’d probably place that in Saird or Terarir (temples look like they’d fit with the Conquering Daughter). I think that Esrolian women have more of a Minoan look.

Would you accept 3-D-models of temples, too?

I’d love to see 3d models in a pop up book of Gloranthan temples!
