A KRAKEN in 2015, really? Yes. Due to popular request and because Schloss Neuhausen is too cozy a hang-out for gaming to visit only every 2 years there will be a KRAKEN this year as well! Mind you – it will be a shorter, less expensive and much less elaborate event then the real biennial KRAKEN. It will be more a Gaming Retreat than a Gaming Vacation but it will be worth your while. Expect all the fun and all-inclusive food and drinks as well as the odd Guest of Honor or two. A little update on our website and the registration will go online in early February.

A Baroque Gaming Retreat coming up!

It is still early February and the registration form for THE KRAKEN 2015 is now fully operational. A multitude of thanks go out to our web genius Judy Routt! Registrations are streaming in and we are happy to announce that we could line up a game of Mystic Iceland (by the author Pedro Ziviani himself), First Contact: X-Corps and 13th Age in Glorantha as well as great events like axe throwing, ancient speed archery, Finnish pancakes and a KRAKEN Chant-Along. All in the first 30 minutes! In the meantime Sandy Petersen, designer of the ‘Call of Cthulhu’ RPG and the board game hit ‘Cthulhu Wars’, has excitedly broadcasted his attendance at THE KRAKEN 2015! We could also add games for Stormbringer/Elric!, The Laundry and the Impromptu RPG Engine to our gaming list as well as a playtest session for a game that is in development at Modiphius Entertainment by Jason Durall. Expect more information on our website soon. Now make sure to sign up and spread the word!

The author of ‘Sun County’, co-editor of ‘Tales of the Reaching Moon’ Michael O’Brien aka MOB aka Mr. MGF (Maxium Game Fun) has joined the ranks of the Krakeneers and is coming to THE KRAKEN 2015!

BOOM! Former RuneCzar and architect of the RuneQuest/Glorantha Renaissance KEN ROLSTON is also coming to THE KRAKEN. He wants to run a game as well:

SCIONS OF RALZIKARK
A Gloranthan tabletop RPG using RQ6/HeroQuest/MGF/Paranoia rules. And maybe some pretty miniatures.

Sandy Petersen will bring the most recent prototype of GODS WAR to THE KRAKEN to play with you again. There is a very high chance that there will be a set of prototype miniatures in play as well. All you have to do is become Sandy’s willing test subjects.

Gods War is a competitive strategy game based on the vigorous mythic realm of Glorantha in which 3 to 5 players summon minions and gods, build temples and shrines, and cast spells. The players go on heroquests, gather mystic runes, try to destroy their enemies, and capture their territory. Each faction has its own unique set of spells, mortal units and immortal gods. For example, the Darkness faction features trolls, the Mistress, shades, and the Hellmother; while the Sky faction has archers, the Emperor, Phoenixes, and the Sun God. The game has a world-shattering ‘mythic’ feel to it, rather than a ‘fantasy adventure’ sensation.

Today I worked some more on editing the transcript of the KRAKEN panel ‘Forgotten Secrets of Glorantha’ by and with Sandy Petersen. Soon to be available as a KRAKEN Chapbook! It is choke full of Glorantha secrets and secrets plans and unheard stories and anecdotes.
