I guess I’m the odd one here.
I’ve played RQ only couple of times (Finnish version, so RQ3?) and those times were in the last millennium. I think we didn’t even play in Glorantha (even though I did kill a duck 🙂 ).
Anyway, something just snapped in my head when I spotted the RQ Humble Bundle so I had to buy the pack and after that I went to buy the book versions too and I guess the next step for me is to switch back from the player seat to the GM seat. On a side note I must say that the last time I GM’d was also in the last millennium so my GM skills are quite rusty…
Now I’m just waiting for the Glorantha book & the Atlas to be published so I could get my first touch (besides “King of Dragon Pass” on PC) on the glorious world of Glorantha.
Sorry for the off-topic(?).

February 15, 2014 at 2:01 pm #6902Tommi MustonenSpectatorI live in Turku.
February 26, 2014 at 8:36 pm #6994StyopaSpectatorI’m saying this as a very long time RQ3 grognard, having played/run RQ since the early 1980s, and having my current campaign very much rooted in RQ3 – I *highly* recommend new players to grab RQ6 and run with it.
I think it takes RQ into the modern era of RPGs, finding a ‘friendlier’ optimal balance point between the simulationist RQ3 and the storytelling HW rules.
Further, it’s a living system, supported by an active and interested publisher. It’s largely backwards compatible with only a little futzing, and it’s beautifully presented.
Even players in my own campaign that have moved off to other cities, I’ve advised them NOT to try to cling to the particular homebrew of RQ3 that I use…I can’t even remember what is RAW and what’s my own rewrite any more.RQ6 is vibrant, with an active, involved community and a publisher putting his heart & soul into the project. It’s the “best chance” RQ has had for, well, 20+ years.
May 7, 2014 at 10:03 pm #7809DaveSpectatorI know this is a necro, but does RQ6 utilize Gloranthan cults and locales in the adventures? I read some rules excerpts, and it looks like it’s not world specific, which irks me. My group has always been RQ3, it’s hard to break away from it after almost 20 years!
May 8, 2014 at 4:30 am #7811Hannu KokkoSpectatoradventures in glorantha is going to bring that in – probably in autumn or a bit later.
menwhile you can already start by reading couple of blog posts notesfrompavis.wordpress.com/2014/04/10/starting-a-glorantha-rq6-campaign-before-adventures-in-glorantha/ . They contain links to all the Gloranthan cults one pagers for RQ6 for stop gap measure until AiG is available plus links to the RQ6 Encounter Generator that automatically generates you enemies and parties for those cults and locales. if you do not know where to start go to party page in the tool and pick a filter for the area where your party is and press ‘Do you feel lucky’ a few times.
both the blog posts on starting the campaign are made by the Finns – the same ones who are two of three members in the core team for RQ6 Encounter tool

Haven’t tried PbP and I’m not sure if I’m even familiar with the concept. Long ingame posts one after the other and GM telling what happens?
I used to play in one IRC-campaign and it surely was fun. It was a long time ago though.

Excellent, thanks for the info! Now to get my group to agree to try another flavor of RQ.

May 9, 2014 at 8:40 pm #7828EvilroddySpectatorFrom the discussion above I see that lots of dinosaurs have survived the mini-cretaceous extinction which I thought wiped out old-school RuneQuest. It is good and heartening to see that so many have tried to keep the old game going. Cheers to you all and good gaming.
Rod RobertsonMay 10, 2014 at 1:10 am #7836Steve QuinnSpectatorAt this point I would make some horrendous giant lizard noise, but I have no idea how to write that in Humantongue on this page. I just hope we don’t attract any Dragonewts if I do so.
