In the Gallery, there is a picture of the King in front of the Queen Nerestina.
The comment says : ‘His eyes blaze orange, a portentous sign to the Orlanthi’.
Why are his eyes blazing orange? Why is it portentous to Orlanthi?
Cheers
August 22, 2013 at 10:58 am #5459Jeff RichardKeymasterOrange is a color associated by the Orlanthi with lightning and storm. It is an uncommon but not unknown eye color, and often poets ascribe heroes and magicians with having orange eyes.
August 22, 2013 at 11:55 am #5461Emmanuel PonetteSpectatorDoes the eyes become orange when one become a hero? Or is it at birth?
Also, is there somewhere a list of color and their signification for most gloranthan cultures? In the GoG? Because having orange eyes is a sign of hero for Orlanthi but may be a sign of devilery for the Frontian for instance…
August 22, 2013 at 6:43 pm #5466Hervé CARTEAUSpectatorThere was a story of the color of Orlanth changing over time: RED at first (yeah!), then Orange, then Brown, then white – the weakening of color corresponding with the weakening the Red Goddess, who drew much of his bloods. Always liked this story.

is there somewhere a repository of all the stories (official and non official)?

If you have a look at the real world application of this you’d see that this would be a daunting task to get into, with only limited use. In Glorantha there’d be not only cultural, but magical societies (cults/spirit societies & wizardry whatevers) interpretation of colours.
Gods of Glorantha (1985) has a Cult Identities table that lists elemental colour associations.
Darkness – Black
Water – Blue
Earth – Green
Fire/Sky – Yellow
Air – White
Lunar – Redand this 2005 RQ Digest email by @metcalph has further info: http://www.rpglist.org/pipermail/glorantha/2005-February/018768.html

There is a very good site with lots of nice mythic stories: http://mythinglinks.blog.ca/Though I think it mostly contains stories that some of us wrote and posted in the various RQ forums or subsequently posted/linked on websites. There’s a variety of stories that only appeared in various fanzines, and I know in my case many that never appeared in either.
September 7, 2013 at 9:21 am #5658Simon PhippSpectatorIn the olden days of RQ2, the runic colour of tin, the Storm metal, was orange.
Now, the storm metal seems to be silver, or bronze. I prefer tin.
