Inter tribal marriage in Prax

So… Can members of the various Tribes of Prax intermarry? For example a Rhino rider and a Bison Rider?

Don’t see why not, but it’s certainly a good source of scenarios. Bride raids, eloping tribesfolk, bridal brawls between rivals. Think you’ve a great potential there.

Not normally, but not impossible. Firstly the gender split tends to keep men and women separate, however some societies have no gender split. Storm Bull, Orlanth, Issaries, Humakt, and some of the splinter societies that contain the elemental spirits have no gender split, are cross-tribal and have no marriage restrictions. Raiding is a source of slaves and it wouldn’t be impossible to free a slave and marry them. From a game point of view – sure they can intermarry. That would be the source of a storyline itself. I’d have no trouble having an Orlanthi Bison Rider marrying a Vingan Rhino rider (bear in mind there are only 12 Rhino Vingans though!).

Men worship Waha and women worship Eiritha, so of course they can marry.

It might be frowned upon and the spouse would be marked as strange, riding the wrong kind of beast. Also, one of the partners in the marriage would not be able to tend the tribal beasts very well, although that might not be a problem as they could tend to captured beasts.

The Vingan Rhino Riders maths is very straight forward. Cults of Prax tells us that 7% of Rhino riders are Orlanth followers. The gender split between Orlanth men and women is 96/4 (applies to most Orlanthi cults that have gender splits). So 18k Rhino riders divided by 4 to give just women is 4500. Of those 4% of 7% are Vingans = .0028 x 4500 = 12.6 Rhino Vingans. Drop the .6 and Voila 12 Rhino Vingans, two of which are in your Rhino Clan…
