I’m very pleased to see Heroquest and Glorantha getting some excellent treatment – not forgetting classic Runequest love as well
July 28, 2014 at 9:06 pm #10177Vaughan CockellSpectatorIf our taster at Continuum is anything to go by, this edition has got character creation down really well, to a format that is empowering to players who know Glorantha but completely flexible and non-overwhelming to newcomers. Thanks, Jeff, for showcasing it!
July 30, 2014 at 5:20 pm #10196Simon PhippSpectatorI liked the character generation, although it had too many hard and fast rules, for my absolute taste. As a GM, I’d cut out the “You can only have …” and “You can’t have …” rules. I would also allow the players to have whatever names they wanted for the characters.
But, very easy, very straightforward and very usable.

please be aware that the demo game was run hard and fast to fit it into the 4 hours we had. Normally character generation in my games is leisurely. “You can only have …” and “You can’t have …” rules were part of moving it on – quickly.
“I would also allow the players to have whatever names they wanted for the characters” – probably refers to my house rule of letting players veto each others name as not fitting in with the background – It’s not HQG, and in my experience has helped smooth out some problems i’ve encountered in my games.
Finally – I changed the HeroQuest challenge rules to produce more extreme results for better effect in a short game. I’m running this scenario with one of my groups and I’ve planned it to be three five hours sessions, we are only one session in! Cramming character gen and a scenario into such a short time did mean shortcuts were needed.

But, it was a good character generation experience and a good scenario on the back of it.

October 5, 2014 at 9:43 pm #11117PaulSpectatorI’m a little confused, Jeff opened this post saying that HeroQuest Glorantha wouldn’t be KS’d but backers are getting previews… did I miss a KS someplace?
October 6, 2014 at 12:07 am #11118Mark MohrfieldSpectatorCertain backers of the Guide to Glorantha Kickstarter, specifically those of Illuminate level or higher, are getting the preview.
