After learning that the Pairing Stones are very different from what I expected, I am now wondering about Hender’s Ruins. There being very little said about the ruins over the years, it remains a mystery to me. There are ruins of either a small town or an extensive palace. Baboons are said to frequent the place and to perform rituals there. It is listed as one of the Ghost places of Prax by Rule One Magazine so I assume the place is haunted and may not be that well connected to the mundane plane. It is named after a mysterious person named Hender.
Are any of these points incorrect and does anyone have more insight into the back-story of this haunted ruin.
Thanks in advance for your wisdom.

Hender’s Ruins are also in the Guide. Here’s the entry:

Hender’s Ruins (ruin): These partly-buried, broken crystalline structures are visible for miles in sunlight. Jaldon Toothmaker once made this his camp for the aid it gave his teeth. Nomads normally avoid it as the weird plants there attract monsters.

Jeff, when you write crystalline do you mean like granite (opaque but reflective when polished) or like quartz (Translucent/Transparent and highly reflective)?
    This is intriguing!
    Cheers.

He means like glass… There was not room to put every detail on every place in the Guide, or it would easily be twice the size it currently is, some of the extra info was edited out, so you could make stuff up yourself. What fun would it be if we told you everything. I think the area smells of cloves as well 😉

There’s a powerful undead creature there as well, as a Humakti was turned into a wraith according to one of the RQ2 travelogues.

Obviously, what is true and what is false in a setting depends on which sources the GM uses. I use a lot of Drastic Resolutions in my games, but with a mix of old and new Glorantha, so I take what seems best and appropriate at the time.

Glass, hmmm! Well I wasn’t expecting that! Back to the drawing board for me and the next time the players pass by the area are they in for a surprise. The Fortress of Solitude in Prax; who’d have guessed. Is Lex Luthor going to be the next incarnation of Moonson? He has got the right hairdo it seems. My head spins (and no, its not hanging from a belt!…yet.).
Cheers and thanks for the challenge.

Glass, like a giant broken and melted set of jars, partly buried by ferocious godtime battles and centuries of windblown dirt…

The wraith Humakti – are you referring to the ghost of Alain troubling the Healer at Horn Gate in the Travels of Biturian Varosh in Cults of Prax?

Or Which travelogues are you referring to? I’d be interested in the references. We are always looking for snippets of info that we’ve missed.

Yes, from the Cults of Prax travelogue – he was disturbed by the idea of anything powerful enough to turn a Humakti into undead.

    That was Horn Gate then.

I don’t recall any mention of an undead creature. Just that Alain’s ghost was around. I always figured that the WAY Naimless died was so awful that regardless of his runic affiliation he became a ghost to seek revenge.

Ah, yes, they met the ghost at Horn Gate, but he went on an expedition to Sog’s Ruins.

    Quote:
Eye-whisper said he detected the ragged ghost of Alain, sword of Humakt, plaguing the consciousness of the healer. I recalled that Humakti had prepared an expedition against broos active in the Sog’s Ruins. The mere thought of a foe which could make a Humakti Rune Lord remain as an undead did chill me to my soul
