And our second one, the GenCon 2013 Future of Glorantha Seminar, starring Jeff Richard and Lawrence Whitaker. See what is coming for Glorantha, RuneQuest and HeroQuest. They share great information about the Moon Design and Design Mechanism product pipelines. Check it out:

Thank-you for this! As there were many interjections of the audience members’ favourite Glorantha questions that were not related to the publications (I understand 😀 I’ve done it too), the publication pipeline became a bit fractured.

Please publish an indicative, non-canon, “you may not hold me to this”, publication pipeline?

I’m just glad that the Big Rubble book is back on the table. I was not particularly happy with the idea of years rather than months passing between the publication of Pavis and its companion volume.

All the esoterica is great, and I understand that the Guide is a necessary platform from which Moon Design can allow further commissions, but, as someone who plays what can only be described as a traditional RQ (6) Gloranthan game (like so many, I can hazard a guess) Pavis needs the Rubble book sooner rather than later.

I watched the video and took notes. I’m sure that I missed several somethings…

    From Moon Design Publications

    • The Guide to Glorantha – in layout, to be published before the end of 2013
    • The Coming Storm – draft ready for art commissioning (Ian Cooper)
    • The Glorantha Bestiary – draft ready for art commissioning (Pete Nash and Sandy Peterson)
    • Gods of Glorantha/Belintar’s Book – Kickstarter when 1st draft ready
    • King of Sartar – draft ready
    • Big Rubble
    • Whitewall
    • Harreksaga – partial draft (Lawrence Whitaker)
    • Lunar source book – speculative

    From The Design Mechanism

    • RuneQuest: Adventures in Glorantha
    • Sun County – (Michael O’Brien)
    • Borderlands – tentative
    • Griffin Mountain – tentative

Note that the order is as mentioned during the video, not necessarily the proposed order of publication.

Borderlands is tentative too, Charles. ‘Sun County’ is definite and we may revisit both Borderlands and Griffin Mountain, but nothing’s set in stone.

I’m excited by such new books as “The Coming Storm”, “Whitewall” and “Harreksaga”. However, I find remakes like “Sun County” and the tentative “Borderlands” to be a bit repetitive. Even though I will certainly check the new scenarios these books include, I would prefer to see books about places that have never had campaigns set in them, like the Holy Country, Teshnos, Glamour, Fonrit, the East Isles… That would be new and so much more exciting, IMHO of course.

I would agree with Rungard. Why take the golden opportunity and cover a new, exciting area. Sun County and Borderlands has enough coverage already.

And doesn’t Ralios just scream RuneQuest when you read about it? Or Fonrit or many others?

Unfortunately, I would tend to agree. One of the problems that a lot of people had with RQ3 was that it reprinted a lot of RQ2 stuff, with slightly updated stats and a few tweaks here and there (Apple Lane, Snakepipe Hollow, Trollpack, Griffin Island).

If we saw new material based in Prax, rather than a rewrite of Borderlands, that would be better, in my opinion. If we wanted Borderlands we’d get the Gloranthan Classics version as it is compatible enough with RQ6 to be playable. I’d prefer Gloranthan Classics compendiums of the RQ3 material (Sun County, Strangers in Prax, Shadows on the Borderlands, River of Cradles) and new RQ6 material covering areas and things that have not been covered before.

A Praxian campaign that covered the start of the Hero Wars would be really good, though. If it included the Pavis/Red Goddess marriage, the Fall of Pavis and similar events that would be fantastic and well worth buying.

An expansion of Sun County (and Borderlands) appears to be the intent, and updated to be consistent with the Guide? For that matter, Sun County was in part a reprint of material in the old boxed sets, but it contained additional material that, for me, made it worth the purchase.

As for Borderlands, it provides a really good base setting for adventurers, and if it was expanded to coincide with ‘later’ events such as the Cradle and the liberation of Pavis it would be fascinating. The Lunar settlers (willing and unwilling) are going to be living in interesting times.

Being recruited and working for Duke Raus of Rone was my first roleplaying experience, and I’d be interested to see how his settlement fares and hopefully survives…

After Pavis is liberated, all the Lunars are killed by the nomads. The armistice of Prax is broken, part of that agreement ceded the valley to the lunar settlers, in return for the Lunars staying out of Praxian Holy places. Balance is being restored in the region, the outlawed Bison and Impala tribes are likely to seek revenge and the return of some of their best grazing… The backlash begins…

Ouch. That spoiler might convince me not to buy an expanded Sun County (Argrath destroys all the Sun Dome temples doesn’t he, according to canon) or Borderlands.

I like the idea of RQ6 and new stuff, Prax/Pavis/Zola Fel has been done-to-death with stuff that is (frankly speaking) torrented and downloadable to kingdom come. I’d strongly look forward to maybe more set in Ralios, or a Sog City campaign. Just new ground.

FWIW my preference is also for new settings rather than Zola Fel updates, reissues excepted.

In any case, awesome to see this video. Thanks for posting it!

While it will be interesting to see the classic areas reinterpreted in line with the Guide and the post-Cradle timeline, I too was half expecting Loz et al to be developing a campaign in a whole new area, as they have hinted. Possibly they still are but don’y feel ready to announce it. Maybe MOB wanting to redo his and other work in the Zola Fel valley is an extra that has fallen in their lap?
