“Of striking appearance, Erianda has pale blue skin but has dyed the entire left half of her body Moon Red.”

Why is her skin pale blue? Is everyone from the “grim land of Spol” blue? Certainly she is not of Veldang heritage. I have searched through the limited material concerning Spol and Carmania and haven’t found anything suggesting the inhabitants have blue skin. Just wondering.

The author will likely speak up but there is a tradition of Blue People in Carmania centered around the Oronin basin. Erianda may be descended from them and/or actively explored those powers to be “related” to them that way. Either way, I suspect the intention was less to make her representative of what most modern Spolites are like and more simply gloriously bizarre by anyone’s standard.

Erianda is an assassin, and her skin color might denote some connection with the Blue Moon assassins who worship Annilla. If so, her skin color might denote a physical manifestation of her allegiance, much as her exposure to Lunar magic has affected her sanity.

The Guide gives a number of places she could hail from:

    Quote:
Janube River States – Vakarunan (small city): The “Place of the Cool Waters”, the inhabitants of this ancient settlement have pale blue skin. They are a fisher people who sail their little boats around the Sweet Sea and its rivers.

Oronin – Kendesos (large city): This city on the upper Oronin River was once ruled by the cruel YarGan the Blue King and his Blue People. His sorcery prevented the High Gods from helping their people, until he was finally killed and the Blue People driven beneath the waters by Jernotius, Daxdarius, and Bisos. The city is home to the greatest legal school of Carmania, where viziers learn to interpret the Black and White laws.

Carmania – Significant minor groups include Orlanthi hill tribesmen, blue-skinned boat people, and wandering Harangvat fisherfolk.

    I personally think

Half of her is blue like a corpse, the other half red like Shepelkirt

to scare the players and some cool some HeroQuest / magic effect.
Looking at her through the eyes of the Lunar magic in Pavis, she’s most likely an illuminated Jakaleel Witch – Dying Phase – “Madness, Woe and Suffering, the threshold between the Living and the Dead.” who has gained the Empty Half as well for the full Death and Darkness of Yanafal Tarnils. In any case, it says she’s Very Hard to overcome.
